Tip-Top Productions first made its mark becoming a driving force behind the doomsday comedy It’s a Disaster, starring Julia Stiles, America Ferrera & David Cross. IAD premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival garnishing much critical acclaim and being described as “One of the funniest films of recent vintage” by The Hollywood Reporter and “A Triumph” by The Guardian UK. It’s A Disaster received a nationwide theatrical release and is distributed by Oscilloscope Pictures and Maya Entertainment.

TTP went on to produce a multitude of award winning festival favorites including the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival front runner Castle in the Ground (Imogen Poots, Alex Wolf, Neve Campbell); 2018 Edinburgh Film Festival’s prestigious Michael Powell Award Winner for Best British Feature Film Calibre, which would go on to win a BAFTA for Jack Lowden in the Best Actor category, as well as receive four additional BAFTA nominations for Best Director (Matt Palmer), Best Writer (Matt Palmer) & Best Supporting Actors (Martin McCann & Tony Curran). In 2016 we premiered our feature film Mean Dreams (Bill Paxton, Josh Wiggins & Sophie Nelisse) to a standing ovation within Cannes Film Festival’s Directors Fortnight section. Also during 2016 our experimental feature length documentary Population Zero won the award for Best Feature Film at the San Francisco Independent Film Festival. We also garnered recognition in 2015 at The New York Television Festival for our original-material television pilot entitled The Midnight Anthology (Clancy Brown), which won Starz network’s ‘Rising Star’ Award & Best Director Award (Andrew Chan). Currently housed with the Starz development team, The Midnight Anthology is a Sci-Fi thriller anthology telling the interweaving stories of characters set in a technologically advanced future Earth.

In Development:

  • The King Tide - a supernatural thriller that tears at the societal fabric of an idyllic island community.

  • Untitled Big Bear Project - a high-concept mystery that illuminates egotistic dilemmas between four friends while on vacation.

Considerations:

Projects of interest are not restricted to a particular genre but their stories often pose strong ethical and moral questions that adhere to an inherent realism or factual base.

Joint Ventures:

  • In 2019 the executives of TTP, Rob McGillivray & Ben Stranahan, partnered with William Woods of Woods Entertainment and Tom Spriggs of The Coronel Group to launch the Toronto based film fund, Line 200.

  • In 2017 TTP partnered with, and financed, Thriller International, a Sales & Distribution firm, along with two feature films under their production banner, Thriller Films.
